How to play

  1. Press Start a shift. You take over Unit 2 at 07:00 with the reactor at 60% power.
  2. Watch the GENERATOR & GRID gauge: keep your output (the black needle) on the dispatcher's demand (the red needle).
  3. Open the turbine valve for quick changes in output, move the control rods to steer reactor power, and use boron for slow, long-term balance.
  4. Points flow every second you are within 5% of demand, the most within 1%. Staying in that band without a break builds a multiplier up to x3.
  5. Avoid trips: too much power, fuel temperature or pressure drops the rods automatically and costs 300 points. Press SCRAM yourself in time and it costs only 100.
  6. At 15:00 your shift report grades you A to F. File it to get on the world Top 20.

About the game

Reactor Control Room puts you at the desk of Unit 2 for one day shift, 07:00 to 15:00, played in about 7 real minutes. The grid dispatcher keeps changing how much electricity the network needs, and your job is to keep the generator on that demand without tripping the reactor.

The plant behaves like a real one in miniature: power follows reactivity, the fuel heats up and pushes back, and xenon builds up slowly after you cut power. The whole board is yours, from the strip chart recorder to the annunciator lamps, with a ring-bound operator manual on the desk for when things get tense.

At the end of the shift you get a report graded A to F. File it, and verified shifts go on the world Top 20.
